The
Number Three
and the Danger of Exorcisms
Doing this work can and always will be very dangerous for all of us
that get involved. You never know what to expect from an exorcism as
far as outward manifestations or activity. John Zaffis and Debbie and
Larry Elward had three cases that were very intense and required immediate
attention. John's case involved a woman dabbling with Santeria and was
to the point that an exorcism was definitely needed. At the same time,
the Elwards had two cases that dealt with voodoo and a woman whose husband
had a curse put on her from Haiti. All three women were suffering in
similar ways.
In April 2004, Debbie and Larry got a call from John Zaffis filling
them in on his case and we filled him in on ours we decided we were
going to set the cases up as soon as possible. They where all were wrestling
with demonic onslaught. We decided to do all three cases within a week
of each other. The first exorcism was very calm, and not a lot of activity
occurred at all, but she did was go under possession and had heavy breathing
at one point. The second exorcism the woman was under but not outward
manifestations at all. In the third exorcism, the woman had some activity
but no outward things happened whatsoever.
John and Larry were outside packing things into the car and John turn
and look at Larry and said, "I don't like this, Larry. Something
is not right with the three last exorcisms. No outward activity occurred
at all. Something is just not right." Larry looked at John and
said, "John did you ever think that it will change its tactics
so you can't always figure it out. I think its trying to confuse you
and you will not think these people need help." The following morning,
John went to work and something was just not right. He could not put
his finger on it, but something was not right. John kept calling the
Elwards all day. Nobody answered the phone, and he must have called
twenty times that day.
That evening when John got home, the phone was ringing as soon as he
walked in the door. John picked it up and it was Debbie, "My daughter
said I had to call you right away to let you know what happened to us.
We were almost killed by a car. Larry was run over three times, John,
and I was run over two times. Larry is in critical condition and we
do not know if he will make it." All John could say at the time
was, "Debbie you two are in my prayers and I will be up as soon
as I can." A few days had gone by and John went up to see Larry.
Larry looked up at John and said, "Well John, I guess he did change
his tactics but this was not what I expected." John was speechless
and upset at the time. Larry looked back at John and said, "I can't
die now. I have a lot of work to do, John. People need help and God
willing, I will be back to help them." Today, Larry and Debbie
are back out there helping people.
The following is from
Debbie's accounts of that day and their recovery
Sometimes when you have things all figured out and life seems to be
good things have a way of changing. A few days after we prayed with
the woman with the curse from Haiti we had gone to morning mass for
lent. One of our friends was having surgery that morning and we walked
with her over to her son's truck to wish her well. We had only stopped
there a few seconds when we all heard a car revive up its engine. This
was almost as if the driver was disturbed that we were standing there.
We don't really remember too much of what happened after we heard the
engine. We do remember flying through the air and landing 15 feet from
where we had just a moment ago stood. Debbie was lying on the ground
with the woman next to her unconscious, meanwhile Larry was caught under
the car and was dragged 50 feet as the car ran over him three times.
Everyone was severely hurt and were all rushed to the hospital.
Once there all were evaluated and either released or hospitalized,
the most critical was Larry, whom the doctor's did not expect to live.
Thanks to God he did live and made remarkable recovery and all of us
are doing very well today after almost two months. At first we thought
it was a freak accident but we soon found out what this accident had
to do with our previous three cases. John had called and was telling
us that the woman that had the Santeria curse put on her the night before
our accident dreamed that Larry was in a terrible car accident and injured
badly. She also dreamed about the second woman, whom she did not know
or did not know we were praying with her, either.
Two researchers from another states also had dreams and had called
John Zaffis about this we had not talk to them and John never had a
chance to tell them about the accident he was not at all surprised at
these events at all. they where telling him about Larry being in an
accident on school property. There is in fact the church's school right
across the street from where we were hit. These two individuals believe
that this was an attack by the devil. That could explain why Larry was
run over three times as an insult to the Holy Trinity.
Since this accident many have asked us if we are going to continue
to work in this deliverance ministry and we can say yes we will. We
do believe that yes this was an attack by demonic forces, but God saved
us from death, so we believe that we must be doing the work that God
wants us to, so we will continue. Today we all feel that something was
at work trying to stop Larry and Debbie from being able to help and
Johns feeling is as always he keeps his guard up always when it come
to exorcism its nothing to play with.
